What About 14k Rolled GOLD?

A Few Facts About 14Kt Rolled Gold Wire (Gold-Filled Wire):

  • Gold-filled wire is sometimes called rolled gold. For most people, it will last their entire lifetime without showing signs of wear. It is made by forming a tube of gold and filling the tube with a base metal, usually jeweler's brass. The gold content is 5% or 1/20 of the total wire.

  • There is 100 times more gold in 14 kt. Rolled Gold (gold filled) than in gold plate.

  • A 14k Rolled Gold pendant is usually considered a lifetime piece of jewelry.

  • Gold-filled wire for jewelry offers an affordable, durable choice at a fraction of the cost of solid karat gold.

  • Remember this is NOT gold plate and in many cases is heirloom quality handed down from generation to generation. It is not unusual to find an old gold filled pendant that is nearly 75 years old!

    What About You?

I take great joy in designing jewelry. I often find myself piled high with stones and wire, thinking to myself, "This is so great! I am so lucky!" The thrill of finding "good homes" for my lovingly crafted treasures NEVER gets old ... and I suspect it never will!

I relish working with all kinds of gemstones ... from locally dug and polished Jaspers to exotic Lapis Lazuli dug from the same mine that provided baubles for the Pharaohs. I adore pairing unusual mixtures - for example you will often find AAA gems next to rough cabs in my work, or a delightful marriage of ethnic and modern like Hill Tribe silver with machine faceted briolettes, or perhaps a whimsical mixture of Swarovski crystals with genuine Sapphires or Rubies. My aim is to create multidimensional, intelligent pieces of art to complement the complex ladies who wear them. I draw inspiration from the Art Nouveau and Victorian periods, as well as the ancient and ethnic ... and of course from the beautiful nature of Washington State that surrounds me.

I would like to thank each and every person who has bought a jewelry creation from me. I appreciate your comments and your enthusiasm more than I can say!
